SYMPTOMS

If you format and save a Blank.pot file with a custom orientation or size, when you choose to create a new presentation by using a specific template, the presentation does not use the Blank.pot settings.

RESOLUTION

To keep your custom slide setup, select Blank Presentation, and then pick the design template that you want to use for the entire presentation, rather than selecting one of the other template choices in the New Presentation task pane.

To do this, click New on the File menu. In the New Presentation task pane, click Blank Presentation. The new presentation follows the default template. On the Format menu, click Slide Design, and click to select the template you want. The template is added without changing the orientation and size.

MORE INFORMATION

If you create a presentation based on a template, the size of the presentation is determined by the template. If you create a presentation based on the AutoContent Wizard, the size of the slide is determined by the Wizard.

PowerPoint uses the saved information in the default presentation file only if you have created and saved a Blank.pot file, and only when you choose the Blank Presentation option in the New Presentation task pane.
