FIX: GetColumnInfo Returns Incorrect Column Information

SYMPTOMS

You can use the IColumnsInfo::GetColumnInfo OLEDB function to return column metadata from a provider. When you use SQL Server 2000, a call to the IColumnsInfo::GetColumnInfo function gives incorrect results when you use server side cursors and prepared SELECT statements. For example, if there is a change in the table schema in between the calls to the function, GetColumninfo still returns the column information of the old table schema.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
