Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a transport rule to append disclaimer text to meeting items in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment.

  • You enable the rule.

  • You create a recurring meeting request that has the weekly recurrence pattern and multiple days selected, and then you send the meeting request.

In this scenario, recipients see only the first day in the recurring meeting request. Therefore, the recipients miss other occurrences of the meeting.

Cause

This issue occurs because the recurrence pattern is translated to a multivalued entry and is parsed by splitting it on commas. However, when writing back with the triggered transport rule, the multivalued entry is truncated at the first comma.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:

2917508 Description of Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
