SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to reinstall or upgrade to Microsoft Visio 2000, the installer may quit unexpectedly, and then you receive the following error message
Error: 1327 Invalid Drive: drive
where drive is the letter of your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true:
The CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive letter has changed since you originally installed Visio 2000. For example, the letter for your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive may change after you install a second hard disk or a ZIP drive.

-or-
You have changed the drive letter of the hard disk that the operating system is installed on -- for example, drive C. The behavior described in the "Symptoms" section occurs because the Microsoft Office Setup program uses registry keys to determine the locations of certain folders that are required to install Office. If the drive letter of the hard disk that contains the operating system has been changed, the registry keys refer to nonexistent folders, and therefore Setup is unsuccessful.
