FIX: ASP Error 0115 Occurs When Connecting Through HTTP to Analysis Server on Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use an HTTP connection to Microsoft Analysis Services 2000 version 8.0 on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, this error message occurs:

MSOLAP.ASP
ASP Error 0115

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version 8.0. This problem was first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

While Analysis Services and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is running on Windows NT 4.0, and the OLAP client is using a HTTP connection, the error message described in the "Symptoms" section occurs. The HTTP connection invokes the Msolap.asp file on the IIS server and the Msolap.asp page is responsible for making the calls to connect to the Analysis Server server. During the process of connecting to the server is when the error message occurs.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Make sure that you are using a Windows NT 4.0-based computer with IIS and Analysis Services Enterprise Edition installed.
  2. Move the Msolap.asp file to the Inetpub\Wwwroot folder.For additional information about this step, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  3. In Microsoft Internet Explorer type the URL to the Msolap.asp file on the server, and the error message occurs.
