SYMPTOMS

When you copy and paste a Microsoft Visio drawing into another program, the background image (page) may not be pasted with the selection.

CAUSE

When you drop a background shape onto a page, Visio asks if you would like to make it the background image for the page. If you click Yes, Visio places the background shape on a separate background page, and does not make it a selectable item on the foreground page.

RESOLUTION

To copy the background page image along with the shapes on the foreground page, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that nothing is currently selected by using any of the following methods:
    • Click the blue, drawing workspace.
    • On the drawing page, click a vacant area that does not contain a shape.
    • On the Edit menu, click Select Special. Click None, and then click OK.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy Drawing.
The Clipboard now contains both the foreground page and the background page.

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Visio 2000 Professional Edition
