SYMPTOMS

After you generate a Web site map in Microsoft Visio, the site layout and the shapes that represent HTML files may disappear unexpectedly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you click to clear the HTML check box in the Filter window. If you click to select the HTML check box in the Filter window, the HTML shapes do not reappear.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Restore the site map

If you just filtered the HTML shapes, follow these steps:
  1. On the Edit menu, click Undo.
  2. Repeat step 1 until the site map is restored.

Note If the Undo command is replaced by Can't Undo, use method 2.

Method 2: Open the last saved copy

If method 1 is not helpful, open the last saved copy of the drawing.

Method 3: Generate a new site map

If methods 1 and 2 are not helpful, follow these steps to generate a new site map:
  1. Start Visio.
  2. On the File menu, point to New, and then use one of the following procedures, as appropriate for the version of Visio that you are running:
    • In Microsoft Office Visio 2007, point to Software and Database, and then click Web Site Map.
    • In Microsoft Visio 2002 and in Microsoft Office Visio 2003, point to Web Diagram, and then click Web Site Map.
  3. In the Address box, type the address of a Web site.
  4. Click OK.
