SYMPTOMS

Every 15 minutes, an error that is similar to the following example is logged in the Application log on Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003:

Event ID:9188
User:N/A
Computer:Server name
Description:
Microsoft Exchange System Attendant failed to read the membership of group 'cn=Exchange Domain Servers,cn=Users,dc=your domain'. Error code '80072030'.

Please check whether the local computer is a member of the group. If it is not, stop all the Microsoft Exchange services, add the local computer into the group manually and restart all the services.

The error code 0x80072030 indicates the following:
ERROR_DS_NO_SUCH_OBJECT

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the security group object that is specified in the error message is no longer in the Users container, which is where Exchange Server expects the object to be.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, move the security group that is specified in the error message back to the Users container.
