FIX: SQL Server 7.0 Readme Files Do Not Document Installation Warning

SYMPTOMS

The Readme files for SQL Server 7.0 service packs do not warn you that when one or more databases are marked as Read-only, Suspect, or Standby mode, installation fails with the following error message:
One or more of your user databases have been marked as read only, offline, or suspect (not recovered). Correct the problem and restart setup.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Service Pack 4.
