SYMPTOMS

A scheduled Content Indexing crawl may fail on every URL in the database if an Exchange 2000 administrator changes the default SMTP e-mail address within the default recipient policy. An application log is generated that summarizes the problem: Content Indexing could not find any URLs in the old domain.

Description : The crawl seed \\.\BackOfficeStorage\servername.domain.com\Public Folders in project <ExchangeServer_MDB-STE3 pub82C3496A> cannot be accessed. Error: 80150804 – A description for this error could not be found.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

If this issue occurs, you must do one of the following two procedures:
  • Change the policy back to the original SMTP address. -or-

  • Delete, re-create, and then re-crawl all of the Content Indexes in the domain.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
