This article was previously published under Q294847 Support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) ends on July 12, 2011. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you're running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2). . SYMPTOMS
ClearType does not work when the Magnifier Accessibility tool is enabled.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because ClearType uses sub-pixel font rendering, which makes fonts appear clearer on liquid crystal display (LCD) screens. However, when the fonts are magnified, they may appear fuzzy or oddly colored. For this reason, ClearType is disabled temporarily when Magnifier is active.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
