When you attempt to add an add-in or a control to a Microsoft Excel workbook, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Run-time error '339'
Component 'COMCTL32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
Cause
This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
Workaround
To work around this issue, contact the vendor of the control for information about obtaining a new version of the control that installs Comctl32.ocx or does not require Comctl32.ocx.

Comctl32.ocx is installed by Microsoft Office 2000. Microsoft Office XP removes this control when upgrading from Office 2000, because the control is no longer used by Office programs.
