Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You add multiple persistent static routes on a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.

  • You restart the computer.

  • You add an IP address to the network adapter, and then you remove an IP address from it.

In this scenario, only the first route that you added remains in the Active Routes list. All other routes that you added are not in the list.

Note After the restart the computer, any persistent static route that you add will also remain in the Active Routes list.

Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Windows RT file information notesImportant Windows 8 hotfixes and Windows Server 2012 hotfixes are included in the same packages. • The files that apply to a specific product, milestone (RTM, SPn), and service branch (LDR, GDR) can be identified by examining the file version numbers as shown in the following table:

    Version

    Product

    Milestone

    Service branch

    6.2.920 0.16xxx

Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Windows RT

    RTM

    GDR

    6.2.920 0.21xxx

Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Windows RT

    RTM

    LDR

  • GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, critical issues. LDR service branches contain hotfixes in addition to widely released fixes.

  • The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and Windows RT" section. MUM, MANIFEST, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are very important to maintain the state of the updated components. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
