FIX: Analysis Manager Reports Error: Cannot Create Temp Directory Due to Disk Space Problems

SYMPTOMS

When you start Analysis Manager, it may display a message box with the following error message:
DSOInfo:
Cannot create temp directory c:\program files\microsoft analysis services\bin\..\help80\metadata\metatemp100\.
Please verify that you have enough disk space, and then try again.
This message is displayed even though there is sufficient disk space and you are able to continue working with Analysis Manager after clicking the OK button.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version 8.0. This problem was first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
