PPT2000: Consecutive Slides Containing MPEG Movie Files Do Not Advance in Slide Show View

SYMPTOMS

When you view a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in slide show view, you are unable to advance past a slide that contains a Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) movie file.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when all of the following conditions are true:
  • The operating system is Microsoft Windows 2000.

    -and-
  • The presentation includes consecutive slides that contain MPEG movies.

    -and-
  • DirectX 8.0 is not installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install DirectX 8.0. DirectX 8.0 can be downloaded from the following Microsoft Web site:
