Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

The Windows installation image includes multiple languages.

The LPRemove task was run as part of the automated LPKSetup task or was executed manually.

An event that resembles the following was recorded in the Event Viewer Setup log.

The system is restarted.
In this scenario, you notice that when you double-click Region in Control Panel, nothing happens. Additionally, you notice that the following event is logged in Event Viewer in the Microsoft-Windows-International Operational log:
Workaround

Fix it for me
To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.

If you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the Fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer that has the problem.

Let me fix it myself
To work around this problem, use Registry Editor to add the missing ExtendedLocale registry key. To do this, follow these steps:

Start Registry Editor.

Locate and then right-click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls

Click New, and then click Key.

Type ExtendedLocale for the name of the new key, and then press Enter.

Exit Registry Editor.
