This article describes the Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) technology and how it may not work with various sound cards.

The AEC technology eliminates audio echoing in full-duplex communication situations, for example, in a Microsoft NetMeeting conversation that occurs between two users each of which uses a microphone.

The AEC technology may not work with the following devices:
  • ISA sound cards (including Plug and Play ISA sound cards)
  • ESS Maestro2E sound card (by ESS Technology, Inc.)
