Symptoms
Assume that you have a computer that has Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry installed. Additionally, assume that you try to set the NUM LOCK key as the breakout key on the computer by configuring the value of the following registry entry to 0x45:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows Embedded\KeyboardFiler\BreakoutkeyScanCode
Note The scan code for the NUM LOCK key is 0x45 in Embedded Lockdown Manager (ELM).
When you save the value, it is converted unexpectedly to 0x2D. After you restart the computer, the NUM LOCK key does not work as the breakout key. Instead, the X key now works as the breakout key.
Note This issue also occurs for other keys that you try to set as the breakout key by using a hexadecimal value.
Cause
This issue occurs because the value in the text box of the BreakoutkeyScanCode entry is recognized as a decimal value. The value is then converted to a hexadecimal value after you save it.

This update is available from Windows Update.

To apply this update, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.
Restart requirement
You may have to restart the computer after you apply this update.
Update replacement information
This update does not replace a previously released update.
The global version of this update installs files that have the attributes that are listed in the following tables. The dates and the times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The dates and the times for these files on your local computer are displayed in your local time together with your current daylight saving time (DST) bias. Additionally, the dates and the times may change when you perform certain operations on the files.
The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information" section. MUM, MANIFEST and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are very important to maintaining the state of the updated component. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
