Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Server Management Console Issues in Windows 2000

One or more of the following symptoms may occur when you attempt to manage multiple Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers in a Windows 2000 enterprise network:

• You can define a maximum of approximately 850 DHCP servers in Active Directory. If you try to authorize additional DHCP servers, you receive the following error message:
  Administration limit for this request has exceeded
• Windows 2000 DHCP servers use large amounts of network bandwidth for authorization traffic, which might cause problems on slow network links. This symptom might occur if there are a large number of DHCP servers in an environment.
• The DHCP authorization process occurs infrequently or, in some cases, occurs too often, which causes server performance problems.
• If you use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to delete or de-authorize a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 as a DHCP server, you may not be able to view all of the DHCP servers in your enterprise network.
• The Authorized Server Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in does not display more than 1,000 DHCP servers.
