SYMPTOMS
When all shared dimensions are selected to be processed (for example, by selecting Process All Dimensions in Analysis Manager), Analysis Server may fail and shut down/restart.
CAUSE
Analysis Services maintains a list of the objects being processed inside a Decision Support Objects (DSO) transaction. This list is a concatenated string of object names, called the commit string, which is allocated 64K characters. If the concatenated list of object names being processed exceeds 64K characters, it is truncated and the problem occurs. Typically, this problem is only seen when a large number of objects are processed inside a single DSO transaction.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the
