The "Prompt for Profile" option is missing in Outlook

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 2000, you clicked Options on the Tools menu to set the option for Outlook to prompt for the profile to be used. In Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, or in Microsoft Outlook 2002, the Prompt for Profile option is missing.

The Prompt for Profile option has been moved to the Show Profiles dialog box in Outlook 2007, in Outlook 2003, and in Outlook 2002. You can view the Show Profiles dialog box from either the Outlook Properties menu or from Control Panel.

In Outlook 2000, use the following steps to set the Prompt for Profile option by using the Outlook Properties menu:
  1. Right-click the Outlook icon on your desktop, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Show Profiles button.
  3. Click the Prompt for a Profile to be used button, and then click OK.
In Outlook 2007, Outlook 2003, and Outlook 2002, use the following steps to set the Prompt for Profile option by using Control Panel:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Mail icon.
  3. Click the Show Profiles button.
  4. Click the Prompt for a Profile to be used button, and then click OK.
