FIX: Remote Registry Handle That DTC Proxy Opens Is Not Closed When DTC Proxy Is Released

SYMPTOMS

When you call the ITransactionDispenser::BeginTransaction method against a remote Design-Time Control (DTC), a remote registry handle is opened. However, this handle is not closed when the transaction dispenser object is released. As a result, the computer cannot automatically enter the stand by, power saving mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
