This update is released on July 23, 2014 and offers a new build (version 5.1.30514.0) of Microsoft Silverlight. For more information about Silverlight, see the What is Silverlight section.

This update is included in current Silverlight installers. If your computer does not have Silverlight installed, the installer will be offered to you by Microsoft Update or by Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

Issue that is fixed by this update
When you switch between tabs or pages in a Silverlight browser application that uses tab-switched controls, the memory usage of the application keeps increasing, and eventually the application crashes.

The Silverlight installer includes all previous updates in addition to this update. To install the latest version of Silverlight, go to the following Microsoft website:
Microsoft Update
This update is also available from Microsoft Update. If you have an earlier version of Silverlight installed, this update will be offered as "Update for Microsoft Silverlight (KB2977218)." If a computer does not have Silverlight installed, this update will be offered as "Microsoft Silverlight (KB2977218)."
WSUS
This update is also available on Microsoft Update through WSUS.
If a computer has an earlier version of Silverlight installed, this update will be offered as "Update for Microsoft Silverlight (KB2977218)."
If a computer does not have Silverlight installed, this update will be offered as "Microsoft Silverlight (KB2977218)."
By default, updates that are deployed by WSUS are not installed automatically. The WSUS administrator can configure the server to automatically push an approved update onto connected clients.
Every installation of Silverlight includes an automatic update feature that can automatically install updates on computers that are running Microsoft Windows when the Silverlight plug-in is running and the user has administrative rights. This feature operates independently from Microsoft Update or WSUS.

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.

In the search box, type Windows Update.

Click Check for updates.

After the scan for updates is completed, click the optional update link.

In the Select updates to install section, right-click the update that you want to hide, and then click Hide update.

Click OK.
Windows 8

Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click either Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

Click to clear the check box that is next to the update that you want to hide.

Expand the update that you want to hide, and then click to clear the Do Not show this update again check box.
