SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to Microsoft Office XP Small Business Edition from Microsoft Office 2000, the Microsoft Small Business Customer Manager (SBCM) may be removed unexpectedly.

CAUSE

This behavior is known to occur when you upgrade to Office XP Small Business Edition for the following languages:
  • Brazilian
  • Chinese Traditional and Simplified
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • Finnish
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
This behavior occurs because Office XP Small Business Edition in these languages removes the SBCM during the installation of Office XP. The SBCM is not included with Office XP. However, the SBCM that ships with Microsoft Office 2000 can be used with Office XP when the Microsoft Small Business Tools 2000 patch is applied.

If you attempt to apply the Microsoft Small Business Tools 2000 patch after you perform the upgrade, the Small Business Tools 2000 patch does not reinstall SBCM.

NOTE: The SCBM is not removed when you upgrade to Office XP Professional or Office XP Professional Professional Plus FrontPage in these languages. The Small Business Tools 2000 patch must be applied for SBCM to work.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
