Microsoft Product Activation requires Volume
License customers to input a Volume License product key when they install from
Volume License or MSDN media for all Microsoft Office XP products. This product
key is assigned to your company or institution and is intended for your sole
use. You should keep your Volume License product key secure and distribute it
only to employees or third parties who are authorized to install and distribute
licenses pursuant to the terms of your agreement.
Additionally,
retail product CDs (boxed product purchased from a retail outlet) can no longer
be used for multiple installations. Select, MSDN, and Worldwide Fulfillment
(WWF) media are the only media available for multiple installations.
To use Select, MSDN, or WWF CDs, volume license customers
must acquire a Volume License product key for the licensing program in which
they are enrolled. When you install Office from the Select, MSDN, or WWF CDs,
you are prompted for a 25-character product key. Use the appropriate Volume
License product key, rather than the product key located on the CD packaging.
The product will not install from a Select, MSDN, or WWF CD without the Volume
License product key.
Note A separate product key is required for all of the stand-alone
Office programs. Contact the Microsoft Activation Center to obtain this product
key. The product key for the Office XP suites does not work for the stand-alone
Office XP programs.
The Volume License product key you need to use may or may
not be included with your Office product. Please browse to the following
Microsoft Web site for information about how to locate or obtain the product
key that is needed to install Office:
If you have any questions about Volume License product keys,
contact the Microsoft Activation Center for your region.
