SYMPTOMS

When you visit a Web site, the Privacy icon is displayed in the Microsoft Internet Explorer status bar even though your privacy settings are set to allow cookies from this Web site and all cookies are already set or read.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Web site content is retrieved from the Temporary Internet Files folder and it has a history of privacy violations.

This behavior may occur under the following conditions:
  1. You visit a Web site, and a cookie is restricted based on your privacy settings.
  2. You change your privacy settings so that the cookie is no longer restricted.
  3. You visit the Web site again, but the content is retrieved from your Temporary Internet Files folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, press F5 to refresh the Web page, or delete the contents of your Temporary Internet Files folder. To delete the contents of your Temporary Internet Files folder:
  1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files, and then click OK on the Delete Files dialog box.
  3. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
  4. Click the Refresh button at the top of the browser to ensure that you are viewing the latest version of the current page.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
