Symptoms

After you apply the MS14-037 or MS14-051 cumulative security update for Internet Explorer, web applications that implement consecutive modal dialog boxes may cause Internet Explorer to become slow and unresponsive over time. This issue occurs in Internet Explorer versions 7 through 11.

Update information

Prerequisites

Customers who are running Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, or Windows RT 8.1 must install the 2919355 update that was released on April, 2014 before they install the update. For more information about the prerequisite update, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2919355.

Customers who are running Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 must install the 2929437 update that was released in April, 2014 before they install the update. For more information about this prerequisite update, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2929437.

Registry information

To use the update in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

Restart requirement

You must restart the computer after you apply this update.

This update does not replace a previously released update.
