FIX: Dump of Internal Structures while Users Connect or Disconnect May Cause Access Violation

SYMPTOMS

A dump (diagnostic output) of internal memory structures within SQL Server while users are connecting and disconnecting may result in an access violation, and in some cases an abnormal termination of SQL Server.

This problem only occurs when certain internal diagnostics are executed within the server and does not occur during the normal operation of the server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
