How to upgrade a trial version to a non-trial version of Visio 2002

The Microsoft Visio 2002 trial version license is only valid for 30 days from the date of activation. To install a full or upgrade version of Visio 2002, you need to uninstall the trial version.

This article shows you how to uninstall the Visio 2002 trial version before you install a non-trial version of Visio 2002.

If you run Setup with a full or upgrade version of Visio 2002, and the Visio 2002 trial version is still installed on your computer, you must uninstall the Trial version before the installation can continue. While you are running Setup with a non-trial version, you receive the following message:

Manually Uninstalling the Trial Version

You can manually uninstall the Visio 2002 trial version at any time. To do this, follow these steps:

1. In Windows Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select the Visio 2002 trial entry (for example, select Microsoft Visio Standard 2002 [English] Trial or Microsoft Visio Professional 2002 [English] Trial), and then click Add/Remove.
3. In the Visio Maintenance Mode options dialog box, select the Uninstall - Remove Microsoft Visio from this computer option, and then click Next.
4. Click Yes.
5. When the trial version is removed, insert your non-trial version Microsoft Visio 2002, and run Setup to install that version.

Reduced-Functionality Mode

If your Visio 2002 Trial version license expires, you can start the Visio programs a total of five times before the programs begin running in reduced-functionality mode. In reduced-functionality mode, you cannot make modifications to diagrams or create a new diagrams, and additional functionality may be reduced. However, you can print your diagrams.

With a trial version, you cannot quit reduced-functionality mode if your license has expired. Use one of the methods earlier in this article to uninstall the trial version and reinstall your earlier version of Visio.
