FIX: Server Name is not Being Populated on the Client Side (UI or File) in SQL Profiler

SYMPTOMS

When you capture a trace within SQL Server Profiler, the Server Name column does not populate when you run the trace on a client. You cannot see the server name from either the user interface or the saved trace file. If you capture the same trace from the computer that is running SQL Server, the server name is populated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
