FP2000: Error Message When You Try to Save or Open a File or to Open a Web

If you try to save a file or open a file in FrontPage 2000, you may receive one of the following error messages: -or- If you try to open a Web in FrontPage 2000, you may receive the following error message:

FrontPage cannot open files, save files, or open Webs if the following conditions are both true:

• You redirect your My Documents folder to a network share.
• The default "My Webs" disk-based Web has not been created in the My Documents folder.

To work around this problem, manually create the default "My Webs" disk-based Web in your My Documents folder. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open FrontPage 2000.
2. On the File menu, click New, and then click Web.
3. Click the Empty Web template.
4. In the Specify the location of the new web box, type the UNC path to your My Documents folder. Append My Webs for the name of a new Web.
   
   For example:
   
   \\MyServer\MyShare\My Webs
5. Click OK.

The new Web is created in the My Documents folder, and FrontPage now can open files, save files, and open Webs.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
