Display Resolution Is Not Migrated by the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard or the User State Migration Tool

After you use either the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard or the User State Migration tool to migrate user settings to your Windows XP-based computer, the display resolution is not migrated.

This issue occurs because display resolution is a hardware-specific setting that is not transferred through the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard or the User State Migration tool.

To work around this issue, manually change the display resolution:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Display, and then click the Settings tab.
2. Choose the resolution you want to use, click Apply, and then click OK.

This behavior is by design.
