SYMPTOMS

If you have a Universal Serial Bus (USB) 3.5-inch floppy disk drive attached to your computer and you start your computer into Safe mode, the USB floppy disk drive may be identified as a 5.25-inch drive.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because, in Safe mode, floppy disk drive A is always labeled as a 3.5-inch drive and floppy disk drive B is always labeled as a 5.25-inch drive.

WORKAROUND

You can still access the floppy drive and its contents in Safe mode. The 5.25-inch label designation does not affect the usability of the device.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
