The Exchange 2000 Distributed Authoring and Version (DAV) may generate Extensible Markup Language (XML) that includes some invalid low ASCII characters.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if the low ASCII characters are incorrectly converted to two-digit hexadecimal representations of ASCII characters that produce output that might be incorrectly displayed, for example:

The characters should be dropped. The use of "compatibility characters," as defined in section 6.8 of [Unicode] (see also D21 in section 3.6 of [Unicode3]), is discouraged:
