Cannot Send Folder Shortcuts from My Network Places to the Desktop

SYMPTOMS

When you right-click a folder shortcut in My Network Places, point to Send To, and then click Desktop (create shortcut), Windows XP may not send the shortcut to the desktop.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, right-click the folder in My Network Places, drag the file to the desktop, and then click Create shortcut here when you release the mouse.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
