This article was previously published under Q303671 On This PageSYMPTOMS If you click the Keep Personal Address in
option in a PAB (Personal Address Book) file in Outlook 2000 Service Release 1

2000 SR-1 cannot find the recipient digital certificate and the following error
message may occur when you send a digitally encrypted message:
Microsoft Outlook had problems encrypting the message
because the following recipients had missing or invalid certificates, or
conflicting or unsupported encryption capabilities. CAUSE This problem can occur because the search process
erroneously stopped searching after it querried the PAB, instead of continuing
the search in the Contacts folder. RESOLUTION A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
