After you migrate the repository to a SQL Server 7.0 OLAP Services format, Analysis Manager and other Microsoft Decision Support Objects (DSO) applications that are running on remote computers may fail to connect and either:
  • This error message appears:
    Invalid object name 'OlapObjects'.

  • A list of incorrect Analysis Services objects display.

When migrating the repository, the server name "." (dot) or "local" was used.

To work around this problem, alter the name of the data source to the correct server name to which the repository was migrated.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.

You can use Regedit to check the following registry value and look for the string "Data Source=." or "Data Source=(local)" in the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLAP Server\Server Connection Info\RemoteRepositoryConnectionString
