You receive the following error when you install an Access 2002 run-time application that includes the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine from a CD-ROM or a read-only folder:
Path/File access error An unexpected setup error has occurred! NOTE: The previous version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine is named Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE). CAUSE
The deployment part of the packaging wizard has to unzip the installation files from the CAB file included in the package. It then uses those files to start the installation. Different operating systems handle the deletion and expansion of a read-only file differently. This causes the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section to appear on some operating systems but not on others.
