SYMPTOMS

After upgrading a Dell Inspiron 7000 portable computer from Windows 98 to Windows 2000, you may find that there is no mouse pointer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:
  • Reset the BIOS to the default settings, and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, Windows 2000 detects and installs new hardware, including the touchpad and any attached mouse.
