Visio2002: Performance Is Degraded When You Perform Certain Tasks

In Visio, you experience performance degradation when performing any of the following:

• You close a property dialog box.
• You start BizTalk Orchestration Designer.
• You create a page.

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:

• The default printer is on a network.
  
  -and-
• The default printer is currently unavailable.
  
  -or-
• The network connection is slow because of problems on the network.

Temporary Workaround

To temporarily work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

• Set the default printer to a local printer.
  
  -or-
• Set the default printer to a network printer that has a fast network connection to the BizTalk Server computer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Visio 2002 Service Release 1 (SR-1).
