After you establish a Terminal Server session on a computer that runs Windows XP, you do not hear any sound during the session.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the use of sound is turned off on the Terminal Server computer or if the Remote Computer Sound setting on the Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) client is not correctly configured.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, turn on the use of sound on the Terminal Server computer and configure the settings for remote computer sound on the RDC client. To turn on the use of sound on the Terminal Server computer, follow these steps:

Sound redirection is a feature of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) version 5.1. This feature is not supported in Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, or in Microsoft Windows 2000 Terminal Services.
