Windows XP Identifies Video Adapter That Uses Asiliant 65555 Chipset as "Unknown Device"

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows XP on a computer that has a video adapter that uses the Asiliant 65555 chipset, Windows XP may identify the video adapter as an "Unknown device."

CAUSE

This issue can occur because Windows XP does not support the Asiliant 65555 chipset.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of the video adapter to ask about availability of an updated driver that addresses this issue.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
