Computer That Has ASUS P2B Motherboard Stops Responding After Windows XP Installation

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows XP on a computer that uses an ASUS P2B motherboard, the computer may stop responding (hang). The Processes tab in Task Manager may show that the CPU is using 100 percent of the system resources.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because of a hardware problem with the ASUS P2B motherboard.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, turn off the Wake up if mouse is moved setting in the computer's BIOS. Refer to the computer documentation for more information, or contact the computer manufacturer if you need assistance with changing this setting.
