.IDA and .IDQ Mappings Restored After You Install Service Pack or Add/Remove a Windows Component

SYMPTOMS

When you install a service pack on a Windows 2000-based system that runs Internet Information Server (IIS), or when you use the Add/Remove Programs utility to add or remove Windows components, the .ida and .idq mappings may be restored even if you previously removed those mappings.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
