Article ID: 308483 - Last Review: February 20, 2007 - Revision: 2.4 GetNtmsObjectAttribute() Does Not Return ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFERThis article was previously published under Q308483 SYMPTOMS
If the GetNtmsObjectAttribute function is called but the buffer is too small, the ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_BUFFER error response is not returned. The RPS_S_INVALID_BOUND error response is returned instead.
CAUSE
The array in the GetNtmsObjectAttribute call is defined as a conformant array. When the function is called, the array size is set at run time by the caller. When the server sets the size to a higher value for the return argument, the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) runtime decides that a bounds error has occurred.
