You may receive the following error message when you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or 5.0 to open certain messages with embedded messages attached to them.
422 Error


The IMAIL process binds to the wrong message for Request For Comments (RFC) 822-compliant messages.


To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2.


This problem seems to occur only when you open the message and embedded message using the Folder view. When you use Internet Explorer 5.0, you can open the content of the embedded message without receiving the error message if you use the Preview pane.
