When you upgrade or install any of the products that are listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:
Error SU0350
Setup was unable to display the Nondisclosure Agreement. Setup will now close.
The computer may then shut down.
This issue can occur for any of the following reasons:
- Setup could not find the License.txt file.
- Setup could not open the License.txt file.
- Setup could not read the License.txt file.
- The cycle redundancy check (CRC) or checksum value of the
License.txt file does not match the value in the Layout1.inf file.
- The computer is running low on memory.
- The version of the License.txt file in the C:\Windows\Help folder
is different from the version of the License.txt file in the
C:\Windows folder.
To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method.
Computer Does Not Shut Down After Error Message
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
- In the Search for files or folders named box,
type license.txt.
- In the Look in box, type
c:\, and then click Search Now.
- In the list of found files, right-click the License.txt file
that is located in the C:\Windows\Help folder, and then click
Rename.
- Type license.xxx, and then press ENTER.
- In the list of found files, right-click the License.txt file
that is located in the C:\Windows folder, and then click Copy.
- In the list of found files, right-click the License.xxx file
that is located in the C:\Windows\Help folder, and then click
Open Containing Folder.
- On the Edit menu in the C:\Windows\Help window, click
Paste.
- Close all open windows.
Computer Shuts Down After Error Message
If the computer shuts down after you receive the error message, use the following steps:
- Restart the computer, and then press and hold down the CTRL key until
the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup menu appears on the screen.
- Choose Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the Startup menu,
and then press ENTER.
- At the command prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER:
copy c:\windows\license.txt c:\windows\help
When you are prompted to overwrite the file, press Y, and then press
ENTER.
- Restart the computer in normal mode.
