Incorrect Keyboard Layout Detected When You Upgrade to Windows XP Professional

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade your operating system to Windows XP Professional, the "Canadian (French)" keyboard layout may be incorrectly changed to the "Canadian French (Legacy)" keyboard layout.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, correctly set your keyboard layout:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options
  3. Click Add other languages.
  4. Click Details on the Languages tab.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click French (Canada) in the Input Language box.
  7. Click Canadian (French) in the Keyboard Layout/IME box, and then click OK.
  8. Click Canadian French (Legacy) in the Installed Services box, and then click Remove.
  9. Click OK.
