BUG: You Do Not Receive Transition-Related Notifications in Interop Scenarios

This article was previously published under Q312225

SYMPTOMS

You may not receive transition-related notifications, especially ManagedToUnmanagedTransition and UnmanagedToManagedTransition, in certain interop scenarios. For example, if CoCreateInstance results in managed code, you do not receive an UnmanagedToManagedTransition notification.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Common Language Runtime (CLR) service currently does not detect these interop scenarios and, therefore, does not send the appropriate transition notifications.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
