Description of the Microsoft Windows registry On This PageSYMPTOMSIn the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM), you use a
fixed endpoint (a static port) to listen to client remote procedure calls.
However, this functionality is not available to Microsoft COM+ applications.
Typically, functionality is used to limit the ports that are opened through a firewall. You can call the RpcServerUseProtseqEp function to fix the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) port on which the COM+ application listens for the COM Object Remote Procedure Call (ORPC). However, you cannot specify a particular port for the application to use manually. RESOLUTIONMicrosoft Windows 2000To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows 2000.
